The Junkyard Dog II is a big, bold, and very distinctive knife with the featured composite blade. This knife has incredible style along with high-performance materials, super-smooth manual opening, and the Kershaw patent-pending Composite Blade technology. This knife is unmatched.
What is a Composite Blade?
The Composite Blade combines two different steels in one blade which enables each steel to be put to work doing what it does best. In the case of the Junkyard Dog II, the spine and most of the blade is high-performance Sandvik 14C28N stainless. The increased nitrogen formula in the 14C28N provides high hardness coupled with good corrosion resistance. High-carbon high-chromium D2 steel is used for the cutting edge. While this steel provides only slight stain resistance, the razor edge and easy re-sharpening is the purpose of this high-carbon steel. To help against corrosion, over time a patina will develop along the edge.
Many people like the Junkyard Dog (JYD) II for every day carrying, because of its big knife size without being too heavy. A non-slip grip is keeps your hand in a great cutting position so cutting is always controlled and confident. The grip is designed with the textured G-10 handles. This is a manual opening knife that can be opened easily with the left or right hand using the built-in flipper. Just a simple roll of your wrist while pulling back on the flipper will open the knife. The big-bellied blade is locked in place during use with the locking liner. The Junkyard Dog II also includes a zippered pouch.
